Suiattle River Trail — Saturday, Mar. 26, 2016

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway
Bridge crossing just before the PCT
A single and beautiful day for this hike. Clouds mixed with sun early then nothing but sun. Only 2 cars in a parking lot that appears very well used during summer months. Trail is well trodden by both humans and unfortunately stock. Minor old piles of stock manure, but nothing new. Trail has numerous tree blow downs which require scrambling and pack removal as well as stream crossings and mud. There is also a fairly good sized wash out several miles in. Beautiful old growth along most the entire trail. Peaks through the trees of snow capped mountains and trees at around 3000'. Rarely saw a person and the birds were singing loudly with the river raging below. Trail was clean and found no trash other than some knuckleheads old jacket at the first stop about 1.5 miles in. PCT was a ghost town and the Suiattle river bridge on the PCT was well worth the extra distance as the sun shown down brightly on its drenched timbers and steal. 😀👍🏻

Down Trees/Manure

Trail Crews,
Don't be too ambitious in clearing the downed timber on this trail. It would be great to have at least part of the summer to hike this trail without having to negotiate huge quantities of horse manure.
