Trip Report
Twin Lakes (North Cascades), Silesia Creek — Monday, Oct. 5, 2015
North Cascades > Mount Baker Area
For those who need a little exercise and want to get away from the crowds try this trail (Yellow Aster Buttes Trailhead had 75 cars on Sunday). This trail goes down with minimal switchbacks and drops 2600 feet or so from Twin Lakes. It is a difficult hike but well worth the exercise. Old growth trees and open forest greet you on the way down. At Winchester Creek where we turned around there is another mile or so to Silesia Creek. Supposedly it is washed out according to the map. In 1973 we went down there fishing and it was great fishing.
The only people you see any more down there are the Border Patrol and a few miners.
