The road to the trailhead is bumpy but in good condition. Left the parking lot at 2:00pm Saturday. Passed a lot of groups coming down from the lunch counter (some didn't even make it that far). Remember it is a mountain and the weather changes all the time. From the people I talked to nobody made it past the false summit Saturday due to low visibility and very cold conditions ( 7 degrees at the false summit).
The hike up to the lunch counter was wet and windy most of the way, then we finally got a break in the weather about a mile from the counter and decided to push on. Made it to the counter early evening wet and windy and shivering (26 degrees). Only saw two other groups camp at the lunch counter Saturday night.
Sunday morning awoke to beautiful blue skies and NO WIND!!! The false summit requires some traction device crampons ( I used Hillsound trail crampons) and they work great. Made it to the summit in 3 hours from the lunch counter. I would guess 30+ people made the summit sunday. The glissade down the false summit is a must. only took less then a hour to get back to the lunch counter. Packed up the tent and gear and were back and the trailhead about 3:30.

I am presuming that water at lunch counter is just melting snow or did you carry extra?
Thank you.

I did last year this time of year. Just below lunch counter after you go past the rock camp spots there is usually and confluence that has running water. There was also running water just below the true summit. I try to bring a good amount of water and filter. Good luck! I'm heading up Friday.

Yes just snow at the lunch counter. I would definitely recommend bringing extra. There is water just below the lunch counter that you can fill up.
