Summit Lake — Saturday, Jul. 18, 2015

Mount Rainier Area > NW - Carbon River/Mowich

The road is in pretty rough shape as others have mentioned. We still saw quite a few people going up in small sedans though. There were a couple of berries when you first get on the path near the trail head. We had heard the stars were going to be out in full that night so we decided to arrive late and hike the ~3 miles up to the ridge right before nightfall. We caught an amazing sunset and were met with a gorgeous display of stars after. Weather was great overall and it wasn't too crowded. The parking lot did look pretty full as we were leaving the next day though (Saturday).
