Palouse Falls — Saturday, Apr. 4, 2015

Eastern Washington > Palouse and Blue Mountains
made some mac n' cheese on this cliff.
What a neat sight, something you would never expect driving through the Starbuck-Spangle area, you feel as if you are in the middle of nowhere (as you are) and then boom, this. I think it's sort of dramatic to call it a hike, as it's a super short trail in good enough condition to be paved, something you could take grandma on. I didn't know what to expect and came over-prepared, but got to enjoy a lunch on a cliff over a waterfall aswell as a little bouldering and aimless wandering around. I'm happy my eyes got to see this, pick the yellow and white and purple wildflowers, and soak in the cold mist of the waterfall. There is not really a trail to the beach, and I don't think most people that come here go to it, but the dirt slope to get down to it was actually extremely difficult for all of my able-bodied friends and I. You just have to accept that you're going to slide and ride it down, really. There's a few stable rocks as stairs, and then alot of loose ones that can fly down below you if you're not careful. Also a little tricky getting back up:) yet, so worth it. Great views on top and below the fall. And for you climbers, we spotted some bolts along the "graffiti" boulders just right of the trail by the banks. Looks like a trickier climb, with a few bouldering routes on the side, but it's also cool. I'll be back sometime to give that a whip
wildflower season
climbable?

You're not supposed to pick the wildflowers. Seriously.
