This is is a GREAT alternative to the hyper crowded Rattlesnake Ledge trail. Same parking area, hike is other side of the lake. Jam packed parking lots and at cars parked at least a quarter mile up the road. We saw just a few other parties on the trail, and the forest is nice and open affording sunlight and filtered views. View from the 'summit' is quite nice. This hike is relatively little known, with no 'Cedar Butte' signs anywhere. A good thing.
