North Cascades > Mount Baker Area
Snow on the meadow
Another day when we shouldn't be there. Sun was shining and the air was frosty. The road is horrible but the trail is ok. There are several blow downs and some snow on the trail. The top of the ridge where you break into the thick woods has several feet of snow but someone has knocked a path up to the meadows. Then the going gets tough. Crampons were no use because there was about 10 inches of new snow on top of 4 feet and it was soft and built up immediately on the crampons. Made it almost to the branch off to the buttes and decided to leave it for another day. I think that when we get more snow up there that we will have to make another trail through the snow.
