Yellow Aster Butte — Friday, Nov. 14, 2014

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area
The goddess called and I listened! Pure solitude at YAB, say what! The trail was snow covered for the entire way with increasing depth to about 8 inches up top. Absolutely a perfect late season day with 20 degrees at trail head, crystal clear skies and no cars in sight. Ascending wasn't too tricky with only occasional ice obstacles. The trail is easily followed with snow up top providing excellent traction. Spent about 15 minutes sipping hot tea before the chill and wind encouraged some movement. The descent is a little more treacherous with a few wild slides on the old behind.... consider some light traction as I only decided on trekking poles for stability. With clear skies this weekend, go now!!!
