Sol Duc Falls — Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014

Olympic Peninsula > Northern Coast
Looking to knock out Waterfall #4 on the Olympic Peninsula Waterfall Trail. Passing the Sol Duc Campground and found the crowded parking area at the end of the road. After some searching I was able to find a parking spot and begin at the Sol Duc Falls trailhead. This was listed as a 0.8 mile trail. My GPS had it at just over a mile to the actual bridge where you can see the falls. It was a beautiful day even though the forecast predicted rain. It sprinkled for a few minutes, was overcast but had plenty of sun breaking through. The trail was a bit crowded, with families, couples, even horses. But it was still worth the view. I added a few miles to my trip going out and back on lover's lane trail. Here there wasn't so much of a crowd and it gave me a bit more of the peace and solitude that I was looking for. The trails were fairly clear and maintained. Not to difficult with some roots and rocks to look out for. I will definitely try to visit this one again. Especially as I get a little more in shape. Then I would like to try something in this area a little more challenging. One side note. It is worth stopping at the small parking area (it had a name but I don't know remember it) but it is before Salmon Cascade. Very beautiful views of a crystal clear green blue river. I took so many pictures on this trip It is very difficult to choose which ones to post.
