High Divide - Seven Lakes Basin Loop — Monday, Aug. 25, 2014

Olympic Peninsula > Northern Coast
My wife and I spent our anniversary hiking the nearly 20 mile loop for 3 days. It was our first time hiking here and we definitely want to go back! The trail was very well maintained and clearly marked. On our hike we encountered: 1. Bubbling brooks 2. Waterfalls 3. Alpine likes to swim in (rinse the hiker funk off). Heart Lake was our favorite. 4. Lots of established campsites 5. Stunning views of the Hoh River valley and the north face of Mt. Olympus 6. Docile mountain goats 7. Lots more wildlife! 8. Blooming wild flowers 9. More edible mountain blueberries than you could shake a stick at! And all of the other stuff you would expect on a very cool hike in the Olympics. Bugs were a nuisance, but when are they not this time of year?
