Union Bay Natural Area — Saturday, Apr. 19, 2014

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area
University Slough is just south and west of parking lot-E and east of the new UW baseball park.
Walking or biking through this little natural area is part of my daily commute to work. This morning's sunrise was a little stormy and beautiful. It gives me a boost of 'outdoor energy' to get me through my day of work. The highlight of my walk today was seeig 4 little ducklings with their mother kicking around in University Slough. I saw no youngsters in the ponds but they surely will be out and about soon. This park is fun to visit regularly as one may watch the ducklings grow up over the course of the spring. In addition to ducks I saw numerous cormorants, red wing blackbirds, a bald eagle , and a great blue heron. Whew, quite a morning!
4 little ducklings with mom, stinking cute.
More of the same with my crummy iPhone camera, they are so cute!
