Trip Report

Dosewallips River Road — Friday, Feb. 21, 2014

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal
Near start of Lake Constance Route.
Snow present on the road to the TH just past pavement's end. As noted in February 20 trip report, easily drivable until until about the last 1/2 mile - which is where we parked, at a wide spot. Patches of snow on overland trail, consistent snow beyond ranging from 6-inches to 16-inches where we turned around near Dosewallips Falls (near 5 mile mark, before Ranger Station). 37 blowdowns between TH and falls. Some easily navigated over, around or under. Others took a bit more work. We managed okay without use of snowshoes or traction devices, but beyond the park entrance snowshoes could have been put to use.
Wintry scene along Dosewallips Road.
Section of blowdown.
