I was on the Cascadian hike to the White Bluffs reported on by Cascadian Kim below. I can't add much to her report except photos & to say that I don't think that I have ever heard so many coyotes singing & yapping at the same time. What a special evening!

Stunning photos! I had a quick question, i've been here a few times and thought it said gates close as dusk, did you guys get out of there ok after this amazing sunset? I'd always thought it would be cool to camp somewhere in here but i think it said no camping everywhere? Your light was amazing! I usually come in the AM, but now i'm rethinking it all..

Hikingqueen - I have read that the gate closes 3 hrs after sunset & opens 3 hrs before sunrise. On the way in the leader of our trip got out to check the gate. There was a big chain around it with a padlock that would need to be opened if the gate were to close. There was also no evidence (tracks from the wheels, etc) that it had been closed recently. I suspect that it is currently inoperable. Sunset was at 4:15 and we went out the gate about 6:30. This is the third time I have been there for sunset light and haven't had any problem with it. I was there in June for sunset though, & the sun set too far north to shine on the bluffs, so go in fall, winter, or early spring when the sun is farther south. Hope this helps.
