Similkameen Trail — Friday, Dec. 6, 2013

Eastern Washington > Okanogan Highlands/Kettle River Range
Falls with frozen circle in the river
It was cold, not just run-of-the-mill cold, it was approx. 7 degrees, then start factoring in the wind chill.. I did not go far! The trail site is fantastic, you walk along a vineyard at the beginning of the hike. There is wildlife all over the place, from birds to cows. Where the waterfall enters the river there is is a frozen circle! I cannot wait to come back again and go farther when the weather is warmer!
Unknown red berries overlooking vineyard
beautiful bird

Nice! I enjoyed this report and photos, as well as the one of Whistler Canyon with the picture of the baby sheep in mid-leap!

You have to brave the cold but the ice circles do appear now and then - fascinating photo. The plant is Sumac.
