Ring Hill Forest — Saturday, Jul. 27, 2013

Puget Sound and Islands > Seattle-Tacoma Area
Open forest area logged several years ago - many larger trees left standing. Lots of pretty fireweed.
Walked both lobes of the northern loop at Ring Hill Saturday morning. A very nice little forest walk close in. Took about an hour to do all the northern trails. The trails are in great condition, (thanks WTA trail folks!) There is a bit of up & down but no significant elevation change. Don't miss the stub trail off to the south to the view points. This trail would be great in winter too since the forest is mostly open and allows more light. There is a small dirt lot on the east side of 232nd Ave NE just north of 159th with room for 4-5 cars. One of the easier ways to get there is take 132nd then 133rd off Avondale past Bearcreek Country Club then turn north on 232nd. Or you can come in from the north taking Woodinville-Duvall road to Old Woodinville-Duvall road to 232nd then south.
a very nice bench under a huge, majestic big leaf maple
one of the views east over the Snoqualmie valley towards the Cascades
open forest with large cedar stump - evidence of the first time the area was logged
