Trip Report

Capitol State Forest - Sherman Creek Loop — Wednesday, Jul. 17, 2013

Olympic Peninsula > Olympia
We used mapmyrun for this and it is 10.74 miles, not 9. With all the confusion with directions, this caused a bit of a panic for us, since we both had to be on call for work that evening. There were a few times we thought we were going to have to turn around and hike all the way back the way we came in. But thanks to Friarandtheangel, we kept following their detailed directions and made it out. We never did hike along a creek bed. The bridge crossing the creek has been rebuilt but from the directions we didn't think we were supposed to cross it. Still not sure. Probably won't do it again to find out. Okay hike through a nice mossy forest. Ate some blackberries along the way. Also saw a lot of salmon, thimble and huckleberries throughout the trip. Day was overcast and no bugs. Thistles close to narrow trail-glad we didn't see any bikers or horses but signs of both.
