Big trees and big views are to be found on this great early season hike. Trail is snow free and very well maintained. An advantage to hiking this trail early in the spring is that the deciduous trees are not yet leafed out so we could see more of the lake from the trail. There is a log crossing at Anderson Creek but a hand cable makes is relatively easy. We hiked into the Maple Grove Campground and back from the south end trail head near upper Baker Dam. Only a few blowdowns that were all easy to step over or under.
