From the Snoqualmie TH at 10am, 25 degrees, compact snow and ice pretty much the whole way to Grand Prospect, the turnaround. Gorgeous winter sun, spectacular views up to Mt Baker and of snow-frosted forest. Avalanches of snow cascading from the trees, backlit by the sun. Grand Prospect plaque barely visible above the snow - perfect. Microspikes not essential, but helpful in both directions. Encountered but two solo hikers coming down as we went up. What would have been muddy spots are frozen ground, making for easy walking!
