Trip Report

Lily and Lizard Lake Loop — Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012

Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area
An icy Lizard Lake early in the morning.
I hiked up from the Hwy 11 connection to the PNW trail. The hike up was pretty soggy, but I stayed dry in mid-height waterproof hiking boots. The trail got snowy right at the fork between the trail to Oyster Dome and the trail out to Lily and Lizard Lakes Both lakes have a beautiful purple, blue ice covering them. The amazing sight was well worth the cold night ahead. There are some great established campsites near the lakes. I woke up to a snow, which only made the lake more beautiful. Main advice: Prepare for Puddles!
One of the beautiful open views along the way.
