Wynoochee Falls great little hike, round trip 5.3 miles, from the gate to the falls and back. Head north out of Montesano up Wynoochee Valley, Wynoochee Dam is approx. 38 miles from Montesano and this portion of road is paved. At the lake turn off you remain going north, and the road now turns to gravel, it is nice and wide, but not plowed beyond this point. Approx. 5 miles past this junction you will come to a seasonally closed gate. Here is where you will gear up for your snowshoe adventure. The falls are approx. 2.6 miles from the gate, you make min. climb at about a 1.3 miles in and you will come upon a most beautiful creek falls, good spot for a small picture op. time. and from there it is only a few tenths of a mile further to an old rock base with steel poles that once held a sign signifying you had reached the falls. Here you go left and down to the falls. It is a great 5.3 mile trek round trip.
