Mount Rainier Area > SW - Longmire/Paradise
We camped at Cougar Rock the night before and made it to the Paradise Visitor Center lot by 7:30 AM. We had the trails all to ourselves. More people showed up later in the day (looked like the lot was full by around 11 AM), but it never got as unpleasantly crowded as it does on the weekends. Bugs were a minor problem until the sun came out; by 10 AM they were nearly all gone. The wildflowers are in full bloom - now is the time to go! There aren't so many in the area right by the parking lot, but hike just a short way up the trails and the meadows are stunning. The path with the less steep grade that goes to the left as you face the mountain (Alta Vista?) takes you through the most densely-flowered meadows. We also saw lots of marmots.
