Mount Rainier Area > NW - Carbon River/Mowich
I've rarely experienced this level of tranquility; photo by m. weinstein
Trail was in great condition. After a steep rocky/rooty start it's a very civilized walk. The road up to the trailhead is a different story. It's coarse gravel and small rocks, sudden plunges, and some pot holes. At one point the road clearly has fallen away and is down to a single lane. Most vehicles at the trail head were suvs and trucks. When we left a few smaller cars were there, but I wouldn't have taken anything without good clearance, awd/4wd, and good angle of attack (for those dips). As it was a rock got in the one of my rotors and made nail biting metal grinding sounds. Trail is great; road is very rough.
View over the lake. Sadly Rainier was not visible past its base; photo by mweinstein

Beautiful wildflowers. Very reminiscent of Paradise @ Mt. Rainier. photo by mweinstein
