Olympic Peninsula > Olympia
Trailhead
I'm surprised more people aren't using this trail. It's awesome trees are a real treat to see. The Olympia Mountaineers did a great job clearing the trail two weeks ago. I'm thankful they have adopted the trail. The trail connects the Skokomish drainage with the Satsop drainage. This day, we hiked to the divide, as we are still conditioning ourselves. It's 1400' to the divide and I believe 1300' down to Satsop Lake. There was one other vehicle at the trailhead. We found patchy snow starting at 2800' up to the pass. Lost the trail briefly on the Satsop side of the pass due to snow, but was easy to find. After exploring and having a snack we turned back. Lots of beautiful avalanche lillies in bloom and waterfalls. There were a couple of trees across the trail that needed some navigating either over, under or around. Beutiful hike! Great workout! Now, get out there and discover it!
