As other have reported there are many wicked potholes on the way so watch your speed when you reach the dirt road.
We happily headed out today with no real goal in mind, just figured on turning around when we felt like it. The views from the Big Hump are pretty nice along the way. After enjoying a short lunch at Five Mile Camp we enjoyed the river in all its engorged turbulance. The river around Five Mile is just ripping along and is quite impresive. We came across one of the mightiest log jams we have ever seen.
I realy enjoyed the area of trail just past Five Mile. It sort of meanders through boulder piles rittled with blooming succulents. Also came across some colombine blooming in this area. The trail past the boulders is fairly flat. Preceding along we enetually turned back at the Olypmic park boundry. Making this a 13 to 13.4 mile hike depending on which map one uses.
All in all a great hike that we would highly recomend now.
