Hiked in 6 or so miles, just past a designated campsite 1-2 miles short of the east end of the trail. (I had previously hiked up to this point from the other end, when that trailhead was still accessible.)
Road Conditions. Short, unpaved road, large pullout, trailhead signage but no facilities.
Trail Conditions. Easy trail with no obstacles (other than horse droppings and a few slightly overgrown sections). No easy access to the White Chuck River (apart from a steep boot path from the campsite), but there was running water a bit over a mile in, plus several small streams around mile 3.
Highlights. Pleasant and varied forest, nice viewpoint ~1 mile in.
Crowds. Encountered one other party.
