This small hike is from the parking lot at Coronet Bay on Whidbey Island which is part of Deception Pass State Park. Head east around the locked metal gate and down the Old Coronet Bay Road which use to be the way to the old ferry that was shutdown back in 1935 after the completion of Deception Pass Bridge. This gate is rarely open for vehicles. It's only for hikers and bikers now. Hike down this road for a mile or two until you can see Deception Pass Bridge and set up your cameras for the Fall or Spring Solstice (March 20 and September 20th.) I believe you can do this 3 days before to 3 days after and you should be able to photograph the sun setting under the bridge. It's beautiful as you can see from these photos and the video below. Checkout the video of this hike by clicking on the link below. This video is long so just speed it up if you want to see all of this spectacular sunset in a shorter time.
As always get out and see this beautiful state and enjoy your hiking!!
Take Care,
Mike
