Now is the time to go for fall colors - wow!!!

Road: Like last year, the main forest road is closed about 6.5 miles from the trailhead. There is a signed detour up a gravel road, which is in mostly decent shape with a few sketchy spots. After getting back onto the main road about 3 miles from the trailhead, the road isn’t great. There were some spots where I thought high clearance was helpful. All the cars in the lot were high clearance.

Hike: Trail is in pretty good shape. All the blow downs can be stepped/climbed over or walked around. As I was coming down, there were some miserable people hiking up in the heat of the day. There are some steep parts that aren’t too fun, but the payoff is worth it.

Foliage/berries: The colors are really amazing. I couldn’t stop taking pictures. There are lots of berry bushes, but not many berries. I thought I was going to strike out, but there is a short stretch about a half mile from the PCT that has bushes that are loaded with sweet berries - quite the treat.

Toilets: The door on the trailhead privy doesn’t lock, so consider knocking first to avoid surprises. The box toilet at the lake has collapsed, so don’t count on using it.

Other: Very few hikers on this warm sunny Saturday. There were a lot of hunters - at least 25. It was a good reminder for me that I need to get my blaze orange out.

Hi, do you mind me asking which trail head you drove to? Just unsure where to navigate to. Thanks for the great trip report!

Sorry, I'm just now seeing this. It's the Little Wenatchee Ford TH.
