Sultan River Canyon Trail, Spada Lake - Culmback Dam — Tuesday, Sep. 15, 2026

This is a nice under the radar hike, close in, moderate incline, a river and a lake. Walk across the dam and look out at the surrounding mtns. Today they were letting water out of the lake into the river, a requirement for fish passage. Head down the Canyon trail to the river past the base of the dam. There are some rocky sections but most of the trail is a pleasure to hike. Most of your elevation is gained on the way back out. The road going in can be done by any car but watch for some wash boarding and potholes. The loo was a 5 star TH loo, clean, stocked with both TP and get this, an air freshener!  We were the only ones on the trail. There are plenty of picnic tables by the dam for lunch.
