Frog Mountain — Tuesday, Sep. 8, 2026

My hiking group went to Frog Mountain today. First time hike for most in our group. Having the perfect weather day made this hike a great one. We pulled into the Th at 9:10 and 1 car was in the lot. The drive in on the gravel section (5ish miles) was the best FS Rd I’ve been on this summer!  It was 48 degrees with clear blue skies. The first mile of the trail was rocky but after that it was cushion duff most of the way. Brilliant fall colors on vine maples, huckleberry & blueberry shrubs in every direction. With the clear skies great 360 degrees views in every direction from Mt Rainier  in the South  to Glacier Peak and beyond to the north. We had no real wildlife sightings except a couple bird species, plus a couple squirrel/chipmunks alerting. After enjoying a leisurely snack / rest break at the summit we headed down at 12:20. Trail traffic was super light, 1 hiker in the AM and 2 PM. My Alltrails App said our hike was 8.3M even though it’s listed as 7.7miles. Another fantastic day out in nature.
