A nice day for this hike with some great views at the top. The road to the trail head had a large section of gravel, but it was in really good condition with only a couple of potholes and a little washboarding. I arrived at the trailhead a little before 11am with the parking lot a out 2/3's full. The bathroom was open and stocked.
The first part of the trail had a few wet sections, but the limited muddy spots were easy to avoid. There are quite a few stairs on this trail, especially in the first half. The second half was rocky as you worked your way up and around Mt Pilchuck to get to the lookout. Once you finally get the lookout in site there is a short section of scrambling over and around boulders to get to the ladder up to the lookout. It only takes a minute and you are in the lookout. The views of Mt Baker, Shuksan, and Three Fingers were impressive, as well as the water views towards Everett. Gaia had it at 5.5 miles and 2086 feet of elevation gain, quite a bit less then the WTA elevation gain.
