We went for a few short walks around Port Townsend starting with Fort Worden walking the beach to the Point Wilson lighthouse which was lovely walking in the soft sand. Next we stopped off at Old Fort Townsend State Park and walked the shaded trails around the campground and down to the beach. We found an abundance of trailing blackberries around the edges of the woods. Finally we stopped at Anderson Lake state park, which is easy to miss if you don’t have directions on. The lake has a toxic blue green algae bloom right now and we didn’t spend too much time wandering the shore but the little we walked seemed to be in good condition. I think Fort Worden and Fort Townsend are a little more engaging and would be great walkabouts with the kids.
