Made it to the upper trailhead in our Prius without issue!
A few new things to note regarding the trail:
Snow is completely avoidable now. There is no water to filter for drinking and it can get hot in the final switchbacks, so make sure to bring plenty. The most notable birds were hermit thrush, olive-sided flycatcher, band-tailed pigeon, and the usual forest birdies. My most exciting sighting for the day was a small patch of Olympic violet on the side of some rocks near the summit. I only saw them on my way down. So beautiful! There is some beargrass blooming near the parking area and along the road but none really on the trail yet. There is a smattering of other flowers blooming including phlox, western wallflower, white globeflower, and hookedspur violet.
Even from the upper trailhead it's a tiring hike with such a rugged and rocky trail. Stay safe!

Howdy-
Is NF 2419 open? I was curious what route you took to the Upper trailhead... We want to go up Wednesday. I really appreciate the information and your trip report! Happy Hiking!

We had no road issues at all, there are a few spots that are bumpy/rocky but for the most part you're able to go around them. We took the usual spur road (014) to the upper trailhead. I'm not aware of another route up there.
