Camp Muir — Saturday, May. 30, 2026

Mount Rainier Area > SW - Longmire/Paradise
Tahoma showed up for a few hours in the morning

We climbed to Camp Muir on Saturday. We reached the Paradise parking lot at 1:45 am, planning to start our ascent by 2:30 am. However, the fog was so thick and visibility so poor that we decided to rest in the car for a few hours. We woke up at 4:30 am and began climbing at 5:30 am, and by then the weather had improved.

The morning stayed cloudy, but around 8 am the sky opened up and we enjoyed clear views of the mountain and deep blue skies for a while. By 11 am the clouds started rolling back in, and by 1 pm we were completely fogged in. The descent through the thick fog was an adventure of its own, but also a lot of fun. When we finally reached the parking lot at 5:30 pm, it was sunny again — a perfect ending to a memorable day.

Snow starts right from the parking lot. The trail has intermittent snow‑free sections until Pebble Creek, and from there it’s fully snow‑covered all the way to Muir.

Beautiful Camp Muir.
We had fun while climbing down, low clouds limited our visibility
Tatoosh Range looked beautiful from panorama point. Mount St Helens in the background.
