Done as a day-hike from a base camp at Big Beaver Boat Camp (we canoed in, launching from Diablo Lake Colonial Creek Campground launch, portaged along Ross Dam, and paddled up Ross Lake).
We meandered ~4 miles up Big Beaver, not quite reaching 39 Mile Camp. Lots of fun things to see - including a ton of (fresh) bear scat!
Still lots of wildflowers - bleeding hearts, western starflowers, western columbine, Cascade-Orgeon grapes, fringe cups, and bride's bonnet (at least, that's what iNaturalist is telling me). Though it does appear that the trillium blooms are past - lots of faded flowers. Also various mushrooms, mosses, bountiful nurse longs, and lots of big old-growth Douglas Fir and Red Cedar!
The trail conditions were great - no blowdowns or muddy sections. It certainly smelled and looked like some recent sawing was done to clear the trails, which is always appreciated.
Minor mosquitoes, but nothing terrible (yet).
