The primary goal was to see how the flowers were doing up in the clear-cut area. I was definitely too early for the big bloom. There are scattered small flowers. Lots of greenery. The alders are starting to really grow up to fill in the area. Unfortunately also lots of Scotch Broom which is invasive and very difficult to get rid of.
No view this morning due to low clouds.

It’s Scotch not Scott’s broom, but maybe that was an auto-correct miscorrection. And yes, I was also disappointed to see so much of it near the summit when I was there last week.

Thanks for picking up on that error. It was an autocorrect error as you suspected. This clear cut has allowed some aggressive invasive species to enter. Ox eye daisy is the other one.

At least the daisies are small enough that many plants can grow over them and eventually succeed them - as has already happened with the alders. Scotch broom is just going to choke everything else out and turn the area into an ugly thicket.
