Trip Report

Point Whitehorn Marine Reserve — Monday, May. 18, 2026

Puget Sound and Islands > Bellingham Area

Family adventure to Point Whitehorn. The tide was -3.5 feet, a little breezy and sunny. I’d recommend shoes that can get wet if you are planning to tidepool. But also be mindful that the rocks have barnacles, and we did see some jellyfish. Also, the kelp forest is very lovely but slippery to walk on. The hike in the forest is really beautiful with a carpet of false lily of the valley. There are lots of little bridges and boardwalks. Once you are done rambling through the forest, you’ll go downhill to the beach. Be mindful of the cows parsnip that is encroaching the trail.
