Point-to-point traverse (car drop) from Talapus Lake trailhead, passing Ollalie Lake, up the boot path to Pratt Lake Trail at the north end of Olallie, towards Island Lake, passing Rainbow Lake, Sir Richard’s Pond, and Mason Lake. Side quest up Little Bandera, then down to Ira Spring trailhead.
Ira Spring Trailhead to Mason Lake is in great shape, no snow, few bugs. Talapus Lake trailhead to the Ollalie overlook on the Pratt Trail is also in great shape, no snow, no bugs. As you drop down to Rainbow Lake, there is post-holing soft snow covering a lot of the trail most of the way until you get to Mason Lake. What is exposed of the trail is a muddy trickle of melted snow. Still, totally navigable, just time-consuming for now.
Total distance approx 12 miles including side quest and approx 3600 ft elevation gain.
Gravel roads to both trailheads were in great shape.
