We attended the Solar Program at the Observatory today. it was fantastic! Everyone got to look through the telescope with a white light filter and then a live view of the higher end filter (I forget what it was called). It was an active sun day with lots of spots and protrusions. The program is two hours long and my kiddo and I learned a ton.
Don't forget to buy a shirt or other merch. The new telescope was paid for by tshirt sales and they've been hit hard by recent budget cuts.
Tickets are free but they do need to be reserved in advance. Parking requires a Discover pass.
Outside, tons of wildflowers are blooming and the view of Mt Hood is beautiful.
