Hiked to Upper Melakwa Lake. Bridge made of small logs at the slide was easy to cross with poles. Some snow on trail in last 200 feet of elevation gain before Hemlock Pass but not enough to put on microspikes - the adjacent mud was more of a slip danger. Both lakes are ice free except for a small patch at the south end of Melakwa. No bugs yet.
