Silver Lake County Park is a fantastic place and is a Whatcom County Park. It is located off Silver Lake Road which extends from Highway 542 which is the Mount Baker Highway outside of Bellingham. Turn left at the town of Maple Falls and head North along Silver Lake Road until you see the sign.
There are several trails throughout the park, but the best one is the "Canopy Loop Trail". It's 1.2-mile loop from the parking lot at the Lodge or Day Use Area. The trail starts off level, but you will soon be climbing up the ridge if you choose clockwise or you will stay pretty level if you go counterclockwise around the ridge and have to climb up the ridge towards the end of the hike. This trail is back in the forest and in great shape. This is a great park to camp at whether its tents or Recreational Vehicles. Take advantage and rent or bring a boat for the lake for a leisure row or do some fishing. There are several other hikes withing the park or connecting trails that leave the park. Checkout the video of this hike by clicking on the link below or checkout my Vimeo Channel by clicking on the link below that for over 450 other hikes I have done both in and out of Washington.
As always get out and see this beautiful state and enjoy your hiking!
Take Care,
Mike
