The 1.7 Silver Falls Loop Trail is best done counter-clockwise and gains 600 feet in less than a mile topping out at the third bridge. The trail goes along Silver Creek and is beautifully constructed with its many stone steps and many benches. There is evidence of recent clearing of the fallen trees, but there is much damage to many of the railings which need to be repaired to make it safe for old folks like us who are unsteady and need their support. After the viewpoint at the base of the falls, the trail veers away from the falls and goes through a pine forest eventually switchbacking to the top of the falls. The downhill trail has fewer steps and is much more open. Flowers seen were large-flowered penstemon and a few paintbrush. We did not do the Interpretive Trail, but I don't know how to delete it! It is a worthwhile hike if you are in the area, but we didn't do it today.
