I hiked to West Tiger #1 and back from the High Point trailhead this morning. High Point trail -> Tiger Mountain Trail -> West Tiger RR -> Preston trail
The trails are in great condition, the soft tread of TMT is always more enjoyable than the regular West Tiger #3 trail tread.
There was a trail run event going on today but only ran into a few runners on my way down. However, when I got up to West Tiger #1, I could hear what sounded like a human imitating barking noises coming from West Tiger #2. I learned from hikers coming over from there that it someone cheering for the runners.
Trillium are putting on quite a show throughout the trail, you can spot them up and down the slopes even up on West Tiger RR. Also blooming up near the top are Bleeding Heart flowers, Oregon Grape, and some Salmonberry flowers as well.
It feels to me like when you come down Preston Trail from West Tiger #1, the slopes have filled up with Red Huckleberry, Devil's Club, and other canopy understory plants compared to 10 years back or so.
Also noteworthy are what look like Douglas Fir planted by Weyerhaeuser coming up, and quite a few Red Alder young trees shooting up pretty quickly year over year. I didn't go down to West Tiger #2 or #3 today, but I noticed the last few weeks that Red Alder is growing in thick bunches all along the trails there, some taller than 6 feet now.
