The Brothers — Sunday, May. 3, 2026

Olympic Peninsula > Hood Canal
Nap time at the summit

Went up C2C on Sunday 5/3. Parking lot was full but the trail was rather empty. After we passed the burn areas, we saw lots of climbers going down and we had the summit to ourselves. Few notes:

- Hourglass was still okay except for moats that have formed all over the place. Someone stuck a small branch at a section of the hourglass, probably as a marker not to go beyond that point. We made an awkward move over the rocks to avoid the moat.

- It was a scorching hot day and the snow was very soft that we didn't need to use any traction. We did used our ice axes for the descent.

- Approach shoes / trail runners are nice to have for all those creek crossing and a long approach. Forgot mine and I got tons of blisters from wearing wet boots.

- Took almost 17 hours with lots of snack breaks along the way and a decent 1 hour break with a power nap at the summit 🙂. Started at 4:41 AM. Finished at 9:30 PM, leisurely pace.

Transition to rocks to avoid the moat.
'The left of the Y' route. We were told it's a better route?
About 100-150ft below the summit

Comments

Some previous trip reports from prior years have consistently referred to aggressive wasp/hornets nests right on the route near the climbers' camp, albeit mostly in summer/fall. Did you see any?
