Issaquah Alps > Squak Mountain
One of the creek crossings

This is a lovely close in spring hike.  Long enough to get a good work out in while also checking some seasonal boxes.  The lower and middle part of the trail have enough deciduous trees that right now you get a nice parade of spring flowers.  Lots of native bleeding hearts today, plus the ferns are all unrolling for a peak green experience.  There are some sweet creek crossings and the trail stays shady all the way up, a great choice for a hot day.  The initial elevation gain through the old campsite is quite severe, but once past the upper of the two lower view points you are on lovely well graded "carpet" trail.  I went all the way to the view point which was quite popular today, but continues to shrink with the shrubs etc.  I ended up taking a break on a comfy log a little ways back up the trail.

Coming back down I spied several Trilliums still in bloom and enjoyed the spring show all over again.

Parking can be tight here on the weekend, but with more trails in the mountains opening up the pressure here seems to be off and there were still some spots when I returned around noon.  Porta potty stocked but only OK as it really needed a service.
