Enjoyed a sunny May Day on Squak Mountain 🌞 It's been several years since starting out at Margaret's Way trailhead; so, I was pleased to see the upgraded entry to the trail. The concrete is moss-covered, almost obscuring the words, Issaquah Highland ... confirming my long absence 😁. I completed an 11 mile loop and noticed a few more things I hadn't previously seen. At the 2nd viewpoint (where the sign is laying on the ground), there's a lovely bench and a wide-open view. Along the North-South portion of the Central Peak trail at 1700' elevation, there's a wrecked car adjacent to the trail - it's been there a long time, but this is the first I've noticed it. Returning to the TH, I took the trail that connected to the abandoned road, Highland Drive, and explored the trails labeled "Jupiter" and "Hemlock" on the map - and discovered more of the old abandoned RV campground from the '70's and '80's. I'd heard that it had about 250 sites; but, now I had a better understanding of how extensive that campground had been.
