My hiking group walked the Alki Beach Loop from Jack block Park today. The bathrooms were open and clean when we pulled in at 9:00AM. It was a chilly 51 degrees with darker, overcast skies. Only one other car was in the lot when we pulled in. After touring Jack Block Park we headed right on the promenade around the corner to Alki Point. Despite the gray day there were loads of regulars (runners, cyclists, dog walkers) out enjoying the Alki Trail. We saw lots of birds species but no creatures in the water. A few people were gearing up for a scuba dive just north of Salty’s. Great flowers were blooming in Jack block Park - azaleas, valerian, clematis, pulmonaria, corydalis, hellebores and Siberian Bugloss. We arrived at the Statue of Liberty Plaza just before 11:00 and went to Harry’s Beach House for a delightful lunch sitting next to their fireplace.
