On a gorgeous, sunny spring day, it was unsurprisingly busy at Rattlesnake. Lots of good vibes, though, with everyone happy to be out in the sunshine!
We arrived around 8:45 and were luckily able to find a parking spot near the lake. There were numerous large groups and lots of families on the trail. I must’ve heard at least 5 languages during the hike, and it was awesome to hear and see how broad and diverse the hiking community is in Washington.
The trail was in fine condition with no fallen logs or obstacles. There were places where the scree was easy to slip on, so do watch your step. I recommend shoes with good traction.
We took a break at the top, which was very busy. Once we made it back to the bottom, we waded into the lake (which is very high right now) for a refreshing cool-down.
By the time we were leaving around 1:30, the lot was full and folks were parked down the roads. A lot of folks were going the wrong way through the parking lots, causing some congestion and confusion - so please make sure to go in the direction that the parking spots are pointing, especially when it’s busy.
