Mount Si via Mount Teneriffe Trail, Mount Si - Old Trail — Saturday, Apr. 25, 2026

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
From false summit

It's been awhile since I did a little distance so decided on Si on a beautiful Saturday am.  Mount Teneriffe TH parking lot was maybe 1/2 full at 0800.  New bathrooms in place and port-a-pots gone.  I started out and stayed on the TMT seeing that most hikers seemed to be going to the Falls.  About 6 creeks running well along the TMT up to Roaring Creek.  Then continued on up TMT to the intersection with the Talus Loop trail.  Stopped briefly in the talus field to observe lots of blue sky.  Saw huge Trillium in bloom in the forest before and after the talus.  The trail was so quiet from the parking lot all the way to the intersection of Mount Si trail but the crowds there were relatively sparse on the way up.  I continued on up the Si trail looking along the edges of the trail to be lucky enough to spot a Lady Slipper wildflower but no luck today.  Lots of yellow violets and Salmonberry.  I was feeling pretty good and just kept a nice pace then stopping at the false summit where there were several people.  The rocks above were a bit littered with hikers but it was pretty quiet.  I sometime have concerns of rock fall in this area especially with so many people going off trail here.  Views were wide open.  No mud or snow.  Trail and weather were pretty perfect.  I decided to descent on the first part of the Old Si trail for a change of scenery and steeper descent.  It was so nice and chilly in that forest (nicknamed frostbite alley).  Then rejoined the regular Si trail down which was uneventful except there were many more people ascending.  99% of the dogs I saw were on leash.  And most trail runners were courteous.  Again, when I left the main Si trail heading over to Talus Loop, the crowds were gone.  I stopped, snacked and gazed out at the talus area, then continued back to car.  There were a few parking spots left just after 1 pm.  Traffic not too bad getting home.  Felt great even tho it had been awhile.  It's always a good day on the trails.
