I have hiked all around San Juan and the views are wonderful, but this spot is hands-down the best in the islands. Better than Mt. Constitution, etc.
The north TH has good parking (6 cars there on a sunny Sunday and room for that many more). Clean and not smelly porta john just up the trail maybe 50 yards.
The pollen is dropping right now and flowers are starting to bloom in the woods.
The road walk is a bit boring but gets more interesting once you crest the saddle and head downhill on the ridge the connects Turtleback with Turtlehead. It really gets nice once you hit the singletrack that WTA built to the top! Nice interpretative sign right before you break out onto the open top area that explains how the whole area came to be reserved for recreation.
