Mailbox Peak, Mailbox Peak - Old Trail — Monday, Apr. 6, 2026

Going up the old trail I didn’t take my saw out of my pack and there was no snow. Going down the new/long trail there were stretches of packed snow and blowdowns but only in the upper half as the lower half was nicely taken care of with a chain saw. I worked to make a couple of the blowdowns easier to get thru but there remains to be a massive one right at a switchback - with a temporary bypass. I ran out of water (1 quart) and could’ve filtered some but I was so close to the end that I didn’t. This hike would’ve been too much for Pee Wee.
